{"id":8318,"date":"2023-05-29T06:59:01","date_gmt":"2023-05-29T06:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/?p=8318"},"modified":"2023-05-29T06:59:01","modified_gmt":"2023-05-29T06:59:01","slug":"next-steps-at-the-westminster-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/edswahs\/2023\/05\/29\/next-steps-at-the-westminster-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Next Steps at the Westminster Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to NAEE's recent news round up for alerting me to a forthcoming\u00a0Westminster Education Forum policy conference. \u00a0The focus is: Next steps for green and climate change education in England.\u00a0 Details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminsterforumprojects.co.uk\/agenda\/Green-Education-agenda.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>It's the usual \u00a0formula:<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div>[i] a couple of big(ish) names<\/div>\n<div>[ii] zillions of other speakers each of whom hardly has time draw breath let along make an argument;<\/div>\n<div>[iii] little of no time for the audience to discuss anything;<\/div>\n<div>[iv] a coupler of grandees (usually a passing baroness or earl) to chair the event and draw punters in<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>This one's on-line and so there is at least an acknowledgement that not everyone lives in London.<\/div>\n<p>NAEE said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"The leading speaker will be Jonathan Dewsbury, Head of the Sustainability and Climate Change Unit at the DfE who will speak about the implementation of the Department\u2019s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy for Education.\u00a0 The event will \u201clook at the future of green and climate change education, and embedding an integrated focus on sustainability in education in England.\u00a0 Speakers will look at the implementation of the Strategy so far, including the provision of teacher training and CPD, the new Natural History GCSE with first teaching expected in 2025, and the creation and utilisation of the National Education Nature Park which is expected to go live later this year.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All told, there are 18 speakers promised. \u00a0I wonder if anyone will say anything remotely critical.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to NAEE's recent news round up for alerting me to a forthcoming\u00a0Westminster Education Forum policy conference. \u00a0The focus is: Next steps for green and climate change education in England.\u00a0 Details here.
