Today is such a day<\/p>\n<p>Walls built;<br \/>\nMortar cured;<br \/>\nCavities closed;<\/p>\n<p>Time to turn on the taps!<\/p>\n<p>Well not straightaway;<\/p>\n<p>First we had to install the temporary barrier and then harvested rainwater could be used to fill the tank. This took about an hour, during which the water crept up the outside of the stub walls, and snuck in to the cavities.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-410\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/engdes-student-insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/128\/2017\/07\/Slide7-300x225.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/engdes-student-insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/128\/2017\/07\/Slide7-300x225.gif 300w, https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/engdes-student-insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/128\/2017\/07\/Slide7-768x576.gif 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was much scurrying of arthropods as beetles, moths and spiders vacated their nooks and crannies to flee the rising tide.
