{"id":388,"date":"2017-03-01T17:58:18","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T17:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/fedstaff\/?p=388"},"modified":"2017-03-01T17:58:18","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T17:58:18","slug":"macro-of-the-month-contributorscontributors-summary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/fedstaff\/2017\/03\/01\/macro-of-the-month-contributorscontributors-summary\/","title":{"rendered":"Macro of the month: Contributors\/Contributors Summary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Introduction<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Contributors\/Contributors Summary<\/strong> function in Confluence is useful in just about every wiki space where there are multiple authors and editors; it both informs visitors about who is working on a space and also acknowledges those contributors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contributors\/Contributors Summary<\/strong>\u00a0is a macro that produces an up to date list of contributors to a page, pages or whole space, enabling you to quickly see to see who has contributed and how recently\/frequently.<\/p>\n<h3>Application(s)<\/h3>\n<p>Contributors\/Contributors Summary\u00a0has the following function:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>allows you to create and display a dynamic list of contributors for the pages of your choice, arranged by factors such as frequency of contribution<\/li>\n<li>the Summary version of the macro has less functionality but by that is easier to use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to add Contributors\/Contributors Summary<\/h3>\n<p>First check to see if this is useful by looking to see if the pages or space of interest have, or are likely to have, multiple contributors<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Place you cursor where you want the Contributors\/Contributors Summary macro to appear<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Insert<\/strong> (in the tool bar above) then <strong>Other Macros<\/strong> from the drop-down menu<\/li>\n<li>In the pop-up window, type <em>contributors<\/em> into the search box<\/li>\n<li>Set the variables up as you wish (you may need to experiment until you get a table that works for your data)<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to use Contributors\/Contributors Summary<\/h3>\n<p>Contributors\/Contributors Summary\u00a0can help acknowledge the team effort that is behind many wikis and encourage participation.
