{"id":540,"date":"2011-11-03T09:53:28","date_gmt":"2011-11-03T09:53:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/healthresearch\/?p=540"},"modified":"2011-11-03T09:53:28","modified_gmt":"2011-11-03T09:53:28","slug":"research-assistant-post-nhs-bristol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/healthresearch\/2011\/11\/03\/research-assistant-post-nhs-bristol\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Assistant Post NHS Bristol"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"job-advert-text\">\n<p><strong>Job Title: <\/strong>Research Assistant - Band 7 - Fixed Term 6 months<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Hospital: <\/strong>Frenchay \/ Southmead Hospitals<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Location: <\/strong>Bristol<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Salary: <\/strong>\u00a330,460 - \u00a340,157 pa pro rata<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Hours: <\/strong>37.5 hrs pw<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Closing Date: <\/strong>9<sup>th<\/sup> November 2011<\/p>\n<p>Research &amp; Innovation at North Bristol NHS Trust are looking for a key role as a\u00a0Research Assistant<\/p>\n<p>This role is central to the development and delivery of NIHR Portfolio research carried out in North Bristol NHS Trust<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a\u00a06 month Full time fixed-term post specifically required to  develop support the development of a research project<strong> <\/strong>'Improving best  practice in relation to opioid prescribing in primary care'.<\/p>\n<p>They may also consider fixed term part time (18.45 hrs) over 1 year as well.<\/p>\n<p>The post holder will be based within the Pain Clinic at Frenchay  Hospital, Bristol and will be accountable to the principal investigator  Dr. Cathy Stannard, Consultant in Pain Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>The Research and Innovation office will liaise with the post holder,  monitoring delivery against the research development plans agreed with  the principal investigator<\/p>\n<p>Dr Cathy Stannard has received funding to support the development of a  grant application to the National Insistute for Research in 2012 and  the post holder will undertake the preparatory work to support this bid.<\/p>\n<p>The research assistant will be responsible for conducting literature  review work in order to facilitate design of an evidence-based  intervention.<\/p>\n<p>In addition s\/he will be responsible for organising the input of GPs  through group work to design the intervention so that it will be as  appropriate and acceptable to them as possible. This will be done using  robust methods including audio-recorded focus group interviews with  groups of GPs to assess their knowledge and professional development  needs and preferences.<\/p>\n<p>The research assistant will also engage with patient groups and  individuals to assess the how the study team might optimise the  acceptability of an intervention to patients.
