Last week Professor Rajani Naidoo (Vice-President (Community & Inclusion)) and Kevin McCormick (Head of Campus Services Commercial Operations) undertook the Wheelchair Challenge on campus.<\/p>\n

This challenge was set up by the aFLAME Disability Network: Staff and PGRs to show the lived experience of wheelchair users on campus.<\/p>\n

Starting at the Chancellors\u2019 Building they had a safety briefing and got the feel for practicalities of using a wheelchair. Then crossing campus across a variety of roads and paths - accessing the library, toilets, lifts and a caf\u00e9 were all part of the challenge.<\/p>\n

Comments from Rajani and Kevin were:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really opens your eyes, more people need to do this challenge. Even with ramps it is still hard, I could not do that for 8 hours a day, it takes a lot out of you.\u201d<\/p>\n
