Disability Employment Awareness Month: Joining and induction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our aim is for everyone to thrive at work and this starts during the joining and induction phase.\u00a0 Once a candidate is offered a position we offer a confidential process for new staff to disclose disability information via our pre-employment process.\u00a0 We seek to provide appropriate reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities before they start employment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What support is available?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HR Advisory team will provide support and guidance on work design and link with the new line manager to complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/publications\/agreement-for-adjustments\/\">agreement for adjustment plan<\/a> and if required a personal emergency evacuation plan<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/professional-services\/assistive-technology\/\">Assistive Technology<\/a> team provide a range of specialist computer equipment for people with physical, sensory and cognitive support needs<\/li>\n<li>Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing team will support with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/services\/set-up-your-computer-workstation-ergonomically\/\">workstation assessments<\/a> and provide advice on work station furniture assessments.\u00a0 Along with advice on managing disabilities in the workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You may be entitled to additional support through the Government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gov.uk%2Faccess-to-work&amp;data=05%7C01%7Csrm50%40bath.ac.uk%7C5689ac23070941f6a05108dbbf508a59%7C377e3d224ea1422db0ad8fcc89406b9e%7C0%7C0%7C638314124852869950%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=rmczqsYRoDz9cjWwiZIpNc%2BA%2BXYKD%2Ffl96qcF4CFNM0%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Access to work<\/a> scheme which provides a practical, individually-tailored advice and support to disabled people.\u00a0 The support you receive will depend on your needs.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BSL\u00a0interpreters, lip speakers or note takers<\/li>\n<li>adaptations to your vehicle so you can get to work<\/li>\n<li>taxi fares to work or a support worker if you cannot use public transport<\/li>\n<li>a support worker or job coach to help you in your workplace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like more advice on Access to work please contact your <a
