On 20th November, Transgender Day of Remembrance<\/a>, we pause to honour the lives of transgender individuals who have been tragically lost to transphobic violence. This day is not just a moment of mourning\u2014it is a call to remember, to reflect, and to stand united against the hatred that continues to claim lives. From 1st October of the previous year to now, each name read aloud represents a person whose life was cut short simply for being who they are. Each life taken was a person with dreams, families, laughter and love. Their stories deserve to be heard, their memories cherished, and their humanity affirmed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In recognition of this day the Students' Union LGBT+ group have arranged a non-religious service, offering a space for quiet remembrance and collective strength. Find details of the service here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kaleidoscope\u2014the University's staff and PGR LGBTQ+ network\u2014has arranged a candlelit installation in the Library foyer (pictured below).<\/p>\n

From 13\u201319th November, the University of Bath Library will also be illuminated in honour of Transgender Awareness Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whether or not you can attend these events, we ask you to take a moment: light a candle, speak a name, or sit in silence. We remember not only in mourning but in power, because every trans life is an act of courage in a world that to often denies that courage. Let us honour those we\u2019ve lost and recommit ourselves to building a world where every transgender person can live freely, safely, and with dignity.<\/p>\n
