{"id":54,"date":"2018-02-13T13:52:59","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T13:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/milner-centre-for-evolution\/?p=54"},"modified":"2018-02-13T13:52:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T13:52:59","slug":"darwin-day-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/milner-centre-for-evolution\/2018\/02\/13\/darwin-day-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Darwin Day 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, a fascinating lecture was given at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brlsi.org\/\">Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution<\/a> (BRLSI) by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evolution.rdg.ac.uk\/\">Prof Mark Pagel FRS<\/a> entitled: \u2018<em><strong>The Evolution of Language \u2013 Darwin would approve<\/strong><\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Pagel contrasted animal communication with human language and how speech has evolved and adapted much like biological species.
