Here's what we got up to during the 16 Days.

Conversations on campus

To kick the 16 days off, and to recognise White Ribbon Day, we held a stall in the Sports Training Village. White Ribbon Day reminds us not to ignore everyday behaviour like sexist ‘jokes’, catcalling or staring; it affirms that by taking small, everyday actions, you can help stop behaviour like this which can lead to serious violence. White Ribbon Day recognises everyone as part of the solution, encouraging men and boys to use their voices to speak up for a world in which everyone is safe and respected. At the stall, we spoke with many members of the university community about gender-based violence and had some great conversations. Thanks to all those who stopped and chatted, and thanks to the STV for having us.

#NeverOK student training officer Dan stands behind the #NeverOK stall in the STV

Next, the university’s Sexual Violence and Domestic Abuse Response Service (SVDARS) held two stalls celebrating positive sex and relationships through the creation of literal green flags. As Emily writes: “As the number of smart home devices increases, so too must our understanding of how they can be misused.
