Welcome to the seventh monthly update aimed at keeping you up to speed on the new Milner Centre for Evolution Project. \u00a0Site manager Firhan Rudorf-Saeed is on site throughout the working day, and alongside him is a new addition to the site team, Tomasz Magiera \u2013 they should be the first point of contact for any issues. The builders are continuing to hold weekly meetings with the users of Building 4SA, and attend the monthly University contractor\u2019s meeting with a view to keeping staff and students informed of the works and to give notice of any potential disruption.<\/p>\n

The second stage of the groundworks has now been brought to a stop with the penetration of the rock proving to be more laborious and time consuming than originally anticipated. The works to complete the external drainage have now been programmed in later on in the build, and will be picked up alongside the external landscaping.<\/p>\n

As with last month\u2019s update, road conditions are continuously monitored, and a road sweeper is being utilised as and when required. There is no further work planned in the immediate future which will affect the road outside our site compound.<\/p>\n

A combination of weather delays and other unforeseen elements have meant that the precast concrete plank installation for 1st floor and roof is still approximately 95% complete. The works planned for the middle of July had to be put back, and now the first week of August will see the return of the 130TN mobile crane and total completion of this element of works in order to allow other trades to follow straight on.<\/p>\n

WRW were proud to play host again to one of the University\u2019s Civil Engineering students who was with us for a 5-day placement during July. The feedback from offering these placements is very encouraging, and WRW are happy to accommodate further placements subject to how busy things are at site level.<\/p>\n
