Choosing to study at Bath was a no-brainer for Emily. The reputation of the Sports and Exercise Science course, elite training facilities and placement year provided the perfect environment for someone eager to grow both academically and athletically. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Since graduating, Emily has channelled the discipline she honed at Bath into an impressive career. She\u2019s currently the Managing Director and co-founder of Revised Recruitment Group \u2013 a company she grew to a \u00a31 million turnover in its first year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What made you choose to study at the University of Bath?<\/strong>
\nBath was an easy choice for me \u2013 the Sports Science course had an excellent global reputation and the facilities were second to none. The course I applied for had a placement year built in, which was a huge selling point. I wanted to graduate with more than just a degree.<\/p>\n

I knew I wanted to be somewhere that combined strong academic teaching with elite-level sport. Seeing the Sports Training Village on the open day sealed the deal \u2013 it felt like a place where I could push myself both academically and athletically.<\/p>\n

Did you have a specific career goal in mind when you chose your course?<\/strong>
\nI had a general idea \u2013 I knew I wanted to work in a field where I could solve problems and work with people. I wasn\u2019t set on a specific job title at the time, but I was keen to keep my options open while developing a strong foundation in my subject.<\/p>\n

I chose Sports Science at Bath because it kept doors open while giving me a strong foundation to build on. Being in such a high-performance environment helped me explore different paths.<\/p>\n

Can you share your experience of studying at Bath? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Honestly, my time at Bath was incredible. The course was challenging but engaging. I loved how practical it was and the lecturers brought real-world experience into the classroom.<\/p>\n

Being on the track and field first team was a big part of my experience, too. Balancing training and studies taught me a lot about time management and discipline. I also loved the campus setup \u2013 everything\u2019s in one place, so it\u2019s easy to feel connected.<\/p>\n

Were you involved in any societies or sports clubs during your time at Bath?<\/strong>
\nYes, I was heavily involved with the athletics club and competed in the first team throughout my time there. It was more than just training and competing \u2013 it felt like a family. We supported each other on and off the track, and some of my closest friendships were formed through that club.<\/p>\n

One of my favourite memories is competing in BUCS with the team \u2013 the atmosphere, the team spirit and the pride of representing Bath made those events unforgettable.<\/p>\n

What has your career journey been like since graduating?<\/strong>
\nMy career journey actually started during my placement year at Bath, where I worked in a high-performance gym training a mix of elite athletes and business professionals. That experience was a real turning point \u2013 not just in terms of hands-on learning, but also in opening doors. I was fortunate to be offered a couple of jobs as a result of the connections I made at that placement, and it eventually led to an interview at Goldman Sachs, where I went on to work for two years.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Working at Goldman gave me a strong foundation in business, resilience and high-performance culture \u2013 all of which really shaped my approach moving forward.<\/p>\n

In 2020, I co-founded Revised Recruitment Group, and I\u2019m now the Managing Director. We\u2019re a recruitment agency specialising in placing top talent in the education sector. The company has grown rapidly since we launched, and we were thrilled to achieve a \u00a31 million turnover in our first full academic year \u2013 something that still feels a bit surreal.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a fast-paced and rewarding journey, and I\u2019m really proud of what we\u2019ve built so far.<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about your career? Has anything about it surprised you?<\/strong>
\nWhat I enjoy most is building something meaningful, not just a business, but a team and culture that I\u2019m really proud of. Helping candidates find roles that genuinely suit them and watching clients thrive as a result is incredibly fulfilling.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest surprises has been how transferable the skills I developed at Bath have been \u2013 particularly the discipline, resilience and time management I learned from combining high-level sport with academic study. Those qualities have been essential in growing the business, especially in the early days when it was just a few of us figuring things out as we went.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying your course at Bath?<\/strong>
\nIf you\u2019re considering studying Sports Science at Bath, go for it. It\u2019s an incredible environment that brings together academic excellence, elite-level sport and an amazing support network. The standard is high, but so is the level of opportunity.<\/p>\n

Say yes to as much as you can. Take the placement, join the clubs, push yourself both on and off the track. You\u2019ll come out the other side more confident, capable and ready for whatever comes next.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
