We were so overwhelmed by the response to the return of the Images of Research<\/em><\/a> competition last year that we have great news, it's coming back for another round! Find out more about the 2023 competition and plans for a public exhibition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Representing research with an image<\/h1>\n

Images of Research<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is a competition for staff that invites them to use visual imagery and a short simple description to tell people about research and its benefits to society. Submissions to the competition will then form the\u00a0Images of Research<\/em> exhibition which will be exhibited on campus and outside Bath Spa railway station.<\/p>\n

Benefits of taking part<\/h1>\n

Since 2009 nearly 600 images have been submitted by colleagues from right across the University. \u00a0Over this time researchers and other staff who were involved told us that thinking about the research visually and being challenged to write about their research in a succinct, engaging and non-technical way was valuable in supporting them in developing their communication skills. Winner of the Health and Wellbeing category Dr Jo Daniels highlighted how:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

taking part is one of the rare opportunities to be genuinely creative through another medium in my work. Public engagement is a vital part of my research, so it's also helpful to produce something that can be used in engaging people in my programme of work.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
