{"id":1103,"date":"2023-06-28T06:46:41","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T05:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/?p=1103"},"modified":"2023-07-06T06:47:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-06T05:47:29","slug":"announcing-the-winners-of-the-images-of-research-2023-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/2023\/06\/28\/announcing-the-winners-of-the-images-of-research-2023-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing the winners of the Images of Research 2023 competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With such a high quality of entries to the <em>Images of Research 2023<\/em> competition, the Judging Panel had a difficult task awarding the prizes in each of the competition categories.\u00a0 However, after much deliberation, the Public Engagement Unit are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2023 competition.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>Creative and imaginative entries<\/h1>\n<p>Making a return last year for the University's inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/announcements\/research-culture-week-2023-taking-place-from-26-june\/\">Research Culture Week<\/a>, the <em>Images of Research <\/em>competition is well and truly back! \u00a0The 2023 competition invited colleagues to submit an image and a short, simple description to tell people about research and its benefits to society.<\/p>\n<p>The Judging Panel chaired by Professor Sarah Hainsworth (Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)) had the task of whittling down the 33 entries to just one winner and highly commended entry in each of the four categories. No mean feat.<\/p>\n<p>The winning and highly commended entries reflect a broad diversity of University research and include images created by young people who were part of a research project, abstracted microscopy images, digital creations and photography, and all telling compelling stories about their research.\u00a0 Sarah says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What a fantastic collection of images! I want to extend my congratulations to the winners and highly commended entrants. And to everyone who submitted an entry I, and my fellow judges, have been really very impressed by how you rose creatively to the challenge we posed.
