{"id":1192,"date":"2023-12-11T11:09:13","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T11:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/?p=1192"},"modified":"2023-12-11T11:09:13","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T11:09:13","slug":"successful-first-year-for-our-festival-of-social-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/2023\/12\/11\/successful-first-year-for-our-festival-of-social-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Successful first year for our Festival of Social Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year, the University of Bath became a partner of the Festival of Social Science for the first time and our inaugural programme of events was a cracking success.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Following our successful award from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/announcements\/esrc-awards-1-25-million-funding-to-the-university-for-a-new-impact-acceleration-account\/\">Impact Acceleration Account<\/a>, 2023 is the first year the University of Bath is taking part in this <a href=\"https:\/\/festivalofsocialscience.com\/\">Festival of Social Science<\/a>. Working with colleagues across the University and partner organisations such as museums, libraries, sports centres and cultural venues, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/professional-services\/public-engagement-unit\/\">Public Engagement Unit<\/a> managed the development and delivery of a programme of activities and events that\u00a0aimed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>support researchers to develop their skills and abilities to engage public groups with their research<\/li>\n<li>enhance researchers\u2019 knowledge and increase understanding of public engagement with research<\/li>\n<li>raise awareness of the diversity of nature of social science research activities taking place at the University of exhibition\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Over the course of the four weeks of the Festival (Saturday 21 October to Friday 21 November 2023),\u00a0 the team produced a programme of 18 in-person and online\/digital events.
