It should generate mutual benefit, helping both your research and the people involved achieve their goals.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Engagement can happen at any stage of the research cycle, and even after a project ends to sustain relationships. We\u00a0would be\u00a0particularly\u00a0keen to support applications that connect with the PEU\u2019s 2026-9 strategic priorities. These should bring diverse voices together to consider not only what research will achieve, but how it will shape the future, for better or worse.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Embracing Thoughtful Risk<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Public\u00a0Engagement Unit is sector-leading in its iterative and reflexive approach. We believe in innovation, experimentation, reflection, and taking risks. Over time,\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0seen\u00a0researchers\u2019 confidence in engagement and involvement\u00a0grow, and many tried-and-tested, impactful models are available. Just as in research design, your\u00a0methodology\u00a0should be the most\u00a0appropriate to\u00a0achieve your goals - not everything needs to be new or reinvented.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, unlike more risk-averse funders, we have the freedom to welcome applications that are uncertain and experimental.\u00a0We therefore welcome applications that may not be funded through any other grant scheme due to\u00a0the\u00a0level of risk taking.\u00a0\u00a0While no\u00a0activity\u00a0should put anyone\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0risk, we encourage\u00a0applicants\u00a0to try something new, even with\u00a0a high level\u00a0of uncertainty, provided all involved are treated ethically and equitably.
