{"id":161,"date":"2018-10-04T16:00:54","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T15:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/?p=161"},"modified":"2019-10-01T10:14:08","modified_gmt":"2019-10-01T09:14:08","slug":"public-engagement-seed-fund-and-start-up-fund-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/2018\/10\/04\/public-engagement-seed-fund-and-start-up-fund-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Engagement Seed Fund and Start-up Fund Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Public Engagement Funding Available Now <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/public-engagement\">Public Engagement Unit<\/a> has opened two funding calls to support researchers wishing to engage with a specific public for the first time and pilot new innovative engagement activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seed Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><u>Seed Fund<\/u><\/strong> is aimed at researchers at any level (including doctoral students) who want to pilot innovative engagement ideas, expand engagement activities to new audiences\/contexts and improve their own engagement practice.<\/p>\n<p>Up to \u00a3500 is available to support new engagement activities. Activities should contribute to a positive culture of public engagement at the University. You can read about <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/tag\/seed-fund\/\">previous Seed Fund examples<\/a> on the Public Engagement Unit blog.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start Up Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/marketing\/public-engagement\/funding\/internal\/index.html\">Start-Up Fund<\/a><\/strong> is aimed at researchers at any level (including doctoral students) who have identified community groups \/ special interest groups \/ organisations and non-academic individuals with whom they have not previously engaged.<\/p>\n<p>The funding (up to a maximum of \u00a3200) can be spent on an activity or activities that might instigate public engagement. Activities should help create conditions for productive conversations about common research interests \/ challenges from which public engagement with research projects could arise.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Helen Featherstone, Head of Public Engagement, said: \u201cOver the years, we\u2019ve identified that fostering public engagement with research activities requires time and effort to build trust and relationships with the publics you\u2019re looking to engage.
