We're delighted to launch the new <\/span>Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Activity Fund<\/span><\/b>, providing up to <\/span>\u00a3550<\/span><\/b> to help University of Bath\u2019s researcher involve patients, carers, members of the public and community groups in shaping research.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Good research is strengthened when it draws on the knowledge, perspectives and lived experiences of the people it seeks to benefit. Whether you're developing a new research idea, preparing a funding application, improving study design, or thinking about how to share your findings, meaningful involvement can help ensure your research is relevant, inclusive, and impactful.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fund is open to researchers and research enablers across the whole University and can be used to support a wide range of involvement and engagement activities. Funding can contribute towards public contributor payments, travel expenses, accessibility costs, childcare or carer support, refreshments, workshop materials and other costs directly related to PPIE activities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applications can be submitted throughout the year and will be reviewed monthly by <\/span>Dr Lisa Austin<\/span><\/a> and the Public Engagement Unit. Successful applicants will be asked to share a short summary of what they learned and how public involvement influenced their research.\u00a0We anticipate funding approximately ten applications over the next 12 months. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside funding, support is available to help you plan and deliver effective PPIE activities. This includes advice on designing involvement activities, recruiting contributors through PARTICIPATE, facilitation, and evaluation.\u00a0Please contact <\/span>Dr Lisa Austin<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>la217@bath.ac.uk<\/span><\/a>).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
