{"id":788,"date":"2022-03-08T15:06:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T15:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/?p=788"},"modified":"2022-03-08T15:12:06","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T15:12:06","slug":"get-involved-in-the-festival-of-nature-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/2022\/03\/08\/get-involved-in-the-festival-of-nature-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Get involved in the Festival of Nature 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-copy\">\n<div>The Festival of Nature and City Nature Challenge are back for 2022 and there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved and engage participants and festival-goers with your research.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-copy\">\n<div class=\"sidebar\">\n<h3>City Nature Challenge<\/h3>\n<div><strong>Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May 2022<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Over a weekend at the end of April, the world\u2019s biggest urban wildlife spotting event is breaking out of the city and inviting everyone to spot and record as much wildlife as possible from participants' windows, gardens and local parks wherever across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset using the free iNaturalist app. There are three ways for you to get involved as a researcher:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Live stream with a Q+A<\/strong> - broadcast on the Festival of Nature Facebook page, Youtube channel and City Nature Challenge website, this is an interview format of around 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions and answers from viewers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pre-recorded films<\/strong> - share your passion for the natural world and your research by recording a five-minute film that will be broadcast on the Festival of Nature channels.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Come along to an activity hub<\/strong> - popping up in locations across Bath and Bristol these hubs are spaces for City Nature Challenge participants to find out more about the challenge, pick up wildlife surveying equipment and scientists from across the region. If you're free for half a day over the Challenge weekend come along.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If any of these opportunities are of interest, get in touch with the City Nature Challenge team by Monday 11 April 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Festival of Nature<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Friday 10 to Saturday 18 June 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The Festival of Nature is the UK's largest free celebration of the natural world and in 2022 is heading back outdoors after a hiatus of two years. The programme will involve in-person, digital and hybrid events across the whole of the South West with the aim of enabling people to take action for nature. There are three ways for you to get involved as a researcher:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Action Day (Friday 10 June 2022)<\/strong>\u00a0- taking place across Bath and Bristol,\u00a0this all-day event will encourage residents,\u00a0schools, businesses, families and individuals across the South West to take action for nature.\u00a0If you are running a citizen science project, or\u00a0have a clear public ask stemming from your research then we\u2019d love for you to run a workshop, or provide<br \/>\ninformation for us to include this in our event pack \/ marketing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mini-Beasts Party (Saturday 11 June 2022)<\/strong> - an all-day event for families at the Bristol Beacon that will feature workshops, music, arts and crafts, games and inspiration for kids and parents to take action for nature. If you want to get involved you could host a stall, give a short talk or lead a workshop sharing your research.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nature Content Creators (Thursday 16 June 2022)<\/strong> -\u00a0Are you interested in the power of podcasts, filmmaking, writing or illustration to engage with\u00a0audiences? At this event, you'll meet various science communication content creators and have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise through workshops and talks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>If you're interested in taking part in any of these activities drop the team at the Natural History Consortium a line (<a href=\"mailto:festival@bnhc.org.uk\">festival@bnhc.org.uk<\/a>).
