Both the <strong>Changing Rooms; Changing Views<\/strong> and <strong>River is the Venue<\/strong> projects received \u00a310,000 in funding from our Innovate programme to create innovative interdisciplinary engagement collaborating with the local community. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/marketing\/public-engagement\/funding\/internal\/\">Find out more about how the projects were funded here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing Rooms; Changing Views<\/strong> aims to provoke and collect public perceptions of body image, challenge media led expectations, empower people to think and act differently about positive bodies and their appearance and contribute to fostering a positive body image community. Dr Melissa Atkinson from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/psychology\/\">Department of Psychology<\/a> will be working in collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiltertheatre.org\/\">Kilter theatre<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/hollieannhart\/?hl=en\">Hollie-Ann Hart<\/a>, a Bristol based body illustrator to produce \u2018The Cubicle\u2019, a portable changing room which will challenge public perceptions of positive body image through art, mirrors, tactile experience and a prompting script. Reactions to the \u2018The Cubicle\u2019 from participants will be used to create\u00a0<strong>\u2018The Every Body Script\u2019<\/strong> in collaboration with Kilter which will praise the human body and all its functions.<\/p>\n<p>The cubicle will visit various community groups and be on display at<strong> 44AD studios<\/strong> during Bath Fringe from <strong>May 25 \u2013 June 10<\/strong> accompanied by a <strong>body positive caf\u00e9<\/strong> and <strong>art exhibition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>River is the Venue<\/strong> sets out to show the symbiotic link between the flooding of the river Avon and the cultural and economic development of Bath. Dr Chrysoula Papacharalampou and Dr Thomas Kjeldsen from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/ace\/\">Department of Architecture and Engineering<\/a> and Dr Simon Hayhoe from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/departments\/department-of-education\/\">Department of Education<\/a> will be meeting with key stakeholders including Wessex Water, the Bath and North-East Summerset Council, local communities (e.g. people with disabilities) and educational institutions (e.g. local primary schools and Bath Spa University). From these, an <strong>inclusive art space centred on flooding<\/strong> will be collaboratively set up by people with disabilities and other access needs from the local community in Bath. The art space will be constructed between <strong>April \u2013 November 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Researchers from the University of Bath are working with 44AD studios, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruh.nhs.uk\/\">Royal United Hospital<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/artatruh.org\/\">Art at the Heart of the Royal United Hospita<\/a>l to ensure the River is the Venue project design is democratic and inclusive.
