With such a high quality of entries to the Images of Research 2022<\/em> competition, the judging panel had a difficult task awarding the prizes in each of the competition categories.\u00a0 However, after much deliberation, the Public Engagement Unit are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2022 competition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Creative and imaginative entries<\/h1>\n

After a four-year break, the Images of Research <\/em>competition returned this year for a one-off edition as part of the University's inaugural Research Culture Week<\/a>.\u00a0 The competition invited colleagues to submit an image and a short simple description to tell people about research and its benefits to society.<\/p>\n

The Judging Panel chaired by Julie Barnett (Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research)) had the task of whittling down the 38 entries to just one winner and one highly commended entry in each of the five categories. No mean feat.<\/p>\n

The winning and highly commended entries reflect a broad diversity of University research and include images created by young people who were part of a research project, abstracted microscopy images, digital creations and photography, and all telling compelling stories about their research.\u00a0 Julie says:<\/p>\n

It was fantastic to see the creative ways in which colleagues embraced the challenge posed by Images of Research<\/em>. As part of our work to enhance the University's research culture we are celebrating our research in lots of different ways, and Images of Research<\/em> is a brilliant way of celebrating our high-quality and impactful work.
