The University of Bath marked a pivotal step in its race equality journey by hosting its first Race Equality Charter (REC) Community Forum<\/strong>, led by Dr Teslim Bukoye (Chair of REC USAT). The event brought together a distinguished cross-section of the university community including the Vice-Chancellor, Vice-President for Community and Inclusion (VP C&I), Deans, HR Director, Chief Operating Officer, Heads of Department, Deputy Deans for EDI, HR Deputy Director, the Students\u2019 Union, members of REC USAT and members of the university community.<\/p>\n

The forum opened with a welcome by the VP C&I, who set the tone by aligning the event with the University's strategic vision.<\/p>\n

The Vice-Chancellor reinforced the importance of community collaboration in addressing racial inequalities and fostering an inclusive campus culture.<\/p>\n

Dr Bukoye presented a comprehensive progress update, highlighting key findings from institutional data, gaps in racial equity, and proposed action plans. The session evolved into a dynamic and participatory workshop, where attendees engaged with poster displays summarising REC findings and contributed suggestions using sticky notes\u2014helping shape institutional priorities and KPIs.<\/p>\n

      This collaborative energy and feedback from the event will directly inform our University\u2019s REC submission and a 5-year race equity action plan. It reflects a clear and shared commitment to progress from conversation to impact.<\/p>\n
