{"id":3580,"date":"2019-10-24T15:00:21","date_gmt":"2019-10-24T14:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/students\/?p=3580"},"modified":"2019-10-22T12:18:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T11:18:44","slug":"how-to-look-after-yourself-your-wellbeing-at-uni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/students\/2019\/10\/24\/how-to-look-after-yourself-your-wellbeing-at-uni\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Look After Yourself &amp; Your Wellbeing At Uni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s very easy to forget to look after ourselves and neglect our bodies when we\u2019re so busy socialising, doing assignments and attending lectures.<\/p>\n<p>However, your physical and mental health is still the most important thing \u2013 after all, how are you supposed to show up to classes and produce amazing work if you\u2019re tired and stressed out?<\/p>\n<p>And when the flu hits you, having to stay all day in bed isn\u2019t really the best feeling, trust me.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from making use of the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/professional-services\/student-services\/\">Student Services<\/a> and weeks like <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/deputy-vc\/2019\/10\/10\/world-mental-health-day-2019\/\">Be Well Week<\/a>, it\u2019s also crucial that you get to know your own body and what it needs so that you have a head start in the future.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I wanted to share some advice and tips on how I deal with stress at university based on my experience.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h2>Be aware of when you\u2019re slowing down<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, it\u2019s tempting to go out all the time or work non-stop. By the time you realise that you\u2019re tired, it\u2019s way too late and you\u2019ll probably be very badly burnt out.<\/p>\n<p>When you notice yourself getting tired, don\u2019t push yourself. Obviously, there is a time to work hard but sometimes you need to rest first \u2013 you can\u2019t pour from an empty cup!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h2>Set boundaries<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Following my last point, what you have to do next is set some boundaries so that you don't go over them and tire yourself out.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to go to every single event and you don\u2019t have to go to coffee with your course-mates either. Have the courage to say \u201cno\u201d to people. They won\u2019t be offended!<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h2>Create time for yourself<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>One of the major things that I learned about myself is that I need time in the morning for myself to start my day off on the right note.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re anything like me, you dislike rushing around at the last minute. That\u2019s why I always have at least 30mins to myself in the morning (before breakfast) so that I\u2019m starting the day on my own terms and not trying to get ready in a hurry.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h2>Eat healthily<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Food probably is the easiest to compromise when you\u2019ve got so many things on your plate (<em>pun intended<\/em>). However, good nutrition is definitely non-negotiable when you\u2019re at university.<\/p>\n<p>Batch-cooking will suddenly become your best friend at university.
