After completing what seemed to be the hardest exams I had ever sat, my Summer was a well-deserved<\/span><\/span>\u00a0time to relax and travel.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>With an offer to study Integrated Me<\/a><\/span><\/span>chanical and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath in September 2018, I thought that where I\u2019d be and what I\u2019d be doing for the next few years was clear!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

First, it all goes wrong!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was over\u00a0<\/span>breakfast<\/span>\u00a0on results day where<\/span>\u00a0I first refreshed UCAS<\/span>,<\/span> neither of my first two university choices had been successful<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>All of my friends were going to be moving on with their lives<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0I had no idea what I was going to do for the next\u00a0<\/span>part of my life<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Considering other courses!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After taking some time to gather my thoughts, speaking to a few friends, my school and family,\u00a0<\/span>opportunities\u00a0<\/span>started\u00a0<\/span>to open up as I began the clearing process.\u00a0<\/span>I\u00a0<\/span>ended up with\u00a0<\/span>2 offers for Electronic Engineering at Russell Group Universities<\/span>, as well as an offer for an Art Foundation Course (very different to Engineering).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he option<\/span>\u00a0to move on to university with my peers was open again!\u00a0<\/span>So the next week was spent\u00a0<\/span>visiting<\/span> these universities and making a pros and cons list. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Making a Plan<\/span><\/b>\u2026<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With final deadlines approaching, I had researched well all the offers and come to the decision that they weren\u2019t right for me. <\/span>After having my first taste of earning my own money and travelling over the summer, I\u00a0<\/span>finally decided on a gap year with the added opportunity to re-take my Physics A-level exam.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span> set my sights on Bath for the next academic year<\/span>, deciding that I didn\u2019t want to settle for a university or course that I was not 100% convinced about. <\/span>The next year was to be spent\u00a0working, travelling, meeting new people and taking up new interests.<\/span><\/p>\n
