Action at Bath - supporting our students with climate action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On 12 October, students joined staff and societies at the second annual Taking Action at Bath event \u2013 showcasing extra-curricula activities which enable them to make a positive difference during their time at the university.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Organised by Emily Richards (<span class=\"cf0\">Business Engagement Manager, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences), we've shared below her key takeaways from this engaging event:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\"Taking place at the start of the new semester, the event brings to life the University\u2019s mission to educate, support and inspire young leaders, and our vision of \u2018working in partnership with others for the advancement of knowledge in support of the global common good\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>This exciting event included a series of lightening talks sharing information on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/campaigns\/climate-action\/\">Climate Action Framework<\/a> (CAF) and opportunities for students to gain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/announcements\/first-cohort-to-achieve-carbon-literacy-certification-celebrate-on-campus\/\">Carbon Literacy accreditation<\/a> and become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/campaigns\/climate-action-education\/\">Climate Leaders<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bath.ac.uk\/guides\/vertically-integrated-projects\/\">Vertically Integrated Projects<\/a>, innovative interdisciplinary applied projects in which students collaborate to address global challenges often at a local or campus level<\/li>\n<li>How to contribute to the annual <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bath.ac.uk\/students\/category\/extra-curricular-uni-projects\/one-young-world\/\">One Young World Bath<\/a> caucus taking place on 18 March 2023, which features high profile guest speakers exploring topics within the Sustainable Development Goals<\/li>\n<li>The ways in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/\">Students\u2019 Union<\/a> are addressing climate issues and how students can contribute through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/volunteer\/\">volunteering<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/groups\/\">SU attendees to chat to like-minded students, whilst exploring diverse initiatives to develop their knowledge, skills and collaboration through interdisciplinary groups.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibition stands href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/peopleandplanet\/\">People &amp; Pl<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/peopleandplanet\/\">anet<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/vteam\/\">V Team<\/a> along with SU Volunteering, Climate Champions, One Young World Bath, Vertically Integrated Projects and the Climate Action Framework.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117\" also promoted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesubath.com\/blackhistorymonth\/\">Black History Month<\/a> events and encouraged students to participate in a <a href=\"https:\/\/bathmanagement.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_4IWibiPPHF0aftA?Q_CHL=qr\">climate change research project<\/a> led by Dr Olivia Brown.<\/p>\n<p>Taking Action at Bath demonstrates the unique experience on offer to University of Bath students.
