Not least in relation to Net-Zero, and the forthcoming Treasury Review of economic regulation, but also considering recent announcements, including the Government's Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, the Sixth Carbon Budget, the National Infrastructure Strategy, the Energy White Paper, and the launch of Ofwat's PR24 exercise, as well as increasing focus on corporate purpose amongst investors.

This conference aims to set the agenda for future policy and regulation in utilities; an agenda that helps deliver purpose over the long-term. We will discuss what a purposive agenda looks like and what it requires of government and regulators.

The conference will mark the culmination of three years' in-depth, cutting-edge research and analysis into the politics of fairness in utilities. It will follow the publication (March 2021) of an extensive paper on the implications of public purpose for policy and regulation in utilities and recommendations from Sustainability First for rethinking the regulatory system to deliver fairness.

You will hear from speakers with extensive expertise in policy, regulation, investment, and corporate purpose across energy, water, and communications.

Keynotes from:

Professor Colin Mayer - Saïd Business School

Anne-Marie Trevelyan - Minister for Business, Energy and Clean Growth

Other speakers will include:

Suleman Alli – Director of Customer Services, Strategy and Regulation, UK Power Networks

Dame Polly Courtice – Founder and Director of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Non-Executive Director of Anglian Water

Rachel Fletcher – CEO, Ofwat

Rachel McEwen – Chief Sustainability Officer, SSE

Lawrence Slade – Global Infrastructure Investor Association

Sustainability First is a charity and think tank that promotes practical, sustainable solutions to improve environmental, social, and economic wellbeing in utilities such as energy, water, communications, and waste.  To find out more about our work in this area and the Fair for the Future project, visit: www.sustainabilityfirst.org.uk.

One of our WIRC@Bath Advisory Board members, Martin Hurst, is organising the above conference, and has asked that we promote the event across our networks. 30th March, 2:00 – 4:30pm This conference is free to attend, click here to register....

[230,1,232,4,234,235,8,13,12,10
201,632
post-937","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-coastalengineering","category-other","category-urbanwater","category-wastewatertreatment","category-circulareconomy","category-watersupply","category-weir","category-wessexwater","category-wirc","category-wise","tag-conference","tag-sustainability
["GET
