I volunteered to set up this network as I thought it was important to connect with people across the university, provide a platform for women and a space to learn and share, whether that be career orientated, mental wellbeing or a chance to socialise. I am really excited to see the community grow.

Judith Brown, Co-chair

I joined the university in February 2018 as a teaching and research laboratory technician, I then took the role of health and safety co-ordinator and am currently a technician in Architecture and Civil Engineering. I have worked in many fields during my career, from shop work to administration, industry and scientific research. I initially volunteered for the network as a way to expand my experience and employability but as it has grown I feel very privileged to be a part of the network and really enjoy seeing the benefit that the members are getting from it. I have been quite surprised that by giving my time I am getting so much back and feel I am welcomed into something very important and valuable within the university.

Tessa Kerslake

Hello, I am Faculty Executive Coordinator in the Faculty of Engineering & Design. I am delighted to be part of the Women’s Network, to meet peers and broaden my network across the university. I initially volunteered for the committee as I am interested in pursuing and sharing personal development opportunities and career progression within the University. I really enjoy meeting new people, so being a part of the network has been a fantastic way of building relationships across the university with people who I would have otherwise never met!

Beckie Upton

I have been working at the University of Bath since 2021 as a part of the community projects and events team in the Students Union, supporting students to connect with charities and organise student-led activities in the local community. My background is working with young people to develop creative arts and community projects, new skills and build their CV’s - having previously delivered volunteering enrichment programmes for public galleries in Bristol. In my freelance work as an Artist, I also support Mother-Artists through 1-2-1 mentoring and delivering creative self-development workshops. I have two young children and so I am a keen advocate for supporting women/parents in the workplace, aiding them to progress and have more options around the multiple roles they may have. I joined the committee as I have an interest in mentoring and development and will also be starting a professional coaching qualification in May. I hope to support my colleagues to deliver additional resources for women and offer a support network to benefit women looking to progress, gain confidence and develop in the workplace.

Jess McCallum

I joined the University in 2019 as a part-time Programmes Administrator for Distance Learning MScs in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. I then began another role in the Faculty of Science in January 2020 (just before the pandemic!). I eventually moved into my currently role, also in Science, as Faculty Operations Officer at the end of 2022. I have held a variety of university admin roles both here and at another institution and so when the opportunity to join this new Women’s Network: Career and Growth came up I jumped at the chance. I really want to work with colleagues across the university to foster a community where we support each other, whatever our career plans!

Amy Jefferies

Hi! I’m Amy Jefferies, a Registry Systems Officer in the Department of Academic Registry. I joined the University during the COVID-19 pandemic and, as everyone was working from home, I was distanced from my colleagues for quite some time. I think that the Women’s Network: Career Growth and Community is a good opportunity to foster connection, and that is why I volunteered to join the network committee. The network also aims to support and facilitate the career development of its members, which I’m very enthused about.

Philippa Dunn

Hi, I’m an HR Administrator and look forward to making more connections across the university and being involved in a community both professionally, but also on a personal level meeting people from departments I might not normally work with.

Amy Lippai

I work as a Content Writer in the Digital Content team in the Department of Marketing. I chose to join the Women’s Network Committee as I am interested in campaigning for additional training, networking, and development opportunities for staff across the University. Through this role, I hope to help identify the barriers that currently exist for women working at Bath and establish new events and resources so the University can better meet our needs. My hope is that the Network will facilitate better connections between departments, and also be a space for women to make new friends and feel part of a community.

Creina O’Shea Co-chair Hi, I am Creina and I work for the Faculty of Engineering and Design as Operations and Project Manager.
