on Wednesday 1 March (from 10:00 to 16:00), we've been asked to have a demonstration of the very new Hush Pod from TK Team.
Launched for 2017 the TK-Team HushPod is an acoustically controlled meeting place and study area.
It's suitable for any space where it may be a little noisy.
Come along to the University Library to view and experience the HushPod and see how it might work for areas across the University.
Over the course of the next few days, we're hosting a viewing of the rebuilt GTA rooms over the summer, if anyone would like to come and see them:
Thursday 09.30-10:30 4 East = Meet in Foyer for: 4E 2.4,2.61,3.10, 3.19, 3.5
Thursday 12.30-13:30 5 West = Meet in Foyer for: 5W 2.1, 2.3

We're coming towards the end of the summer break, and many of the rooms are looking much better than they originally were.
Some of the biggest changes have been in 1E, 4E and in 3WN.
The extent of the work will be published in a guide coming soon, but as a preview... here's a view of 3WN2.1:
We've been for a tour of the new facilities, and they're all progressing very well.
We hope to have them ready to go again in the next 10 days or so.
Some rooms are really unrecognisable from before!

Obviously there is more to come in the near future!
Work is gathering pace this week, with many of the teaching spaces starting to come back together.
4W and 6W have had a technology change, and will be released back into general usage shortly.
5W 2.1 and 2.3 have been repainted, pending some new AV equipment in the next week or two.
The progress on the other rooms is below!
3WN 2.1 on 22 July - starting to look like a theatre again.
3WN3.8 - please note the new windows.
4E3.10 - New flooring & Paintwork
1E3.9 PC Lab
Room numbers 1 and 2 of the refurbishment have been started today, with the delivery of the lecterns for 4W1.1 and 4W1.2 arriving back on campus!
They are looking much neater than they did before.
We thought we'd let you have an insight into the work that is going on behind the scenes in some of the GTA spaces over this summer's build project.
As you can see, we're not just updating the technology (which we are doing), but we're preparing the rooms for a full set of infrastructure for the future years. This includes the furniture, the infrastructure cabling, wiring, lights (in some places) and teaching stations.
We're all very busy!
1E2.4 - Stripped Out
1E3.6 waiting for attention
This was a PC Lab!
3WN2.1 - Empty
3WN2.1 Flooring change
3WN3.7 Stripped to the floor
3WN3.7 - The boards are being replaced with something new
New windows for 3WN3.8
4E3.10 Asbestos removal from Windows and Wall
The GTA refurbishment is going along at quite a pace.
The bulk of the work so far has been spent in dealing with the asbestos works in 1E, 2E and 4E.
Many of the other rooms are also starting to be redecorated.
The full list of what we're doing is here:
Please contact us if you'd like to know any more.
This summer, we are rebuilding many of the teaching spaces.
Full rebuilds (Furniture, Decoration, Equipment):
- 2E (but not 3.1)
- 4E (not 3.38)
Equipment refresh & Decoration:
1E3.6, 4E2.56 and 4E3.5 will become twin projector rooms - so you can show 2 sources side-by-side.
3WN2.1 will be fitted with camera tracking (similar to University Hall).
These rooms are being upgraded to the latest AV Specification. They are also being fully rewired to give the latest standard of cabling.
From the start of the new academic year, all of these rooms will be equipped with a full set of digital interfaces, so any form of laptop can be plugged in.
The rooms will have a full lecture capture interface, so that anything the students see on the projection screens or displays will be captured.
An addition to that, the rooms are also getting Apple and Miracast display sharing devices - so you will be able to present from a tablet or latest model laptop wirelessly.
Please contact us if you would like to know any more details.
The University is hosting Question Time tomorrow night (10 December), and we thought that you might like to have a preview of what goes on behind the scenes to build a set.
This is the set being built in the Edge Theatre!
Be sure to catch it tomorrow night on BBC1....
The set is now complete - and looking good!
