IAAPS delegation joins debate about future direction of automotive industry at SAENA ICE2019 Conference

From September 15th to 19th a delegation of the Institute of Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) attended the SAENA ICE2019 Conference in the fantastic venue of Hotel Quisisana in Capri. SAENA ICE2019, together with SAE WCX is one of the most important and interesting conferences in the Automotive world. The quality of the presentations and technical papers from both academia and industry address some of the major challenges and potential solutions currently faced within the automotive engineering sector. The conference brings together experts from across the world to collaborate and share the latest thinking on the future direction of our industry.

The University of Bath and IAAPS members played an important role in the organization of the conference. Professor Jamie Turner, Professor Sam Akehurst, Dr Colin Copeland and Dr Giovanni Vorraro formed part of the scientific committee and acted as chairs as well as expert advisers for the most relevant sessions on internal combustion engines, boosting systems and powertrain electrification. The conference represented a fruitful opportunity to start conversations with strategic partners and companies on the development of future research projects to be carried out at the new £70m IAAPS R&I facility, as well as forge ongoing working relationships with existing partners. I got to meet many of my past colleagues as well as network with new peers from the scientific community, making for an outstanding experience and an event which I will be sure to attend again in 2021.
