My favourite moments from the Be Well Week

Be Well Week, which took place from 6th October to 11th October, was packed with activities designed to support student wellbeing. From creative workshops to nature walks, it was a week full of opportunities to pause, connect, and recharge. In this blog, our Wellbeing Ambassador Scarlett shares her favourite moments and reflections from this uplifting week.

The first Be Well Week was action-packed with wondrous workshops designed to take a pause between busy schedules. There were countless activities encouraging connections, as well as walks and tours in the area, like the educational trip to the Holbourne Museum. One of the best walks had to be the adventure to Sham Castle. Just a few minutes away from the west of campus, this place offered the most beautiful views of Bath! You can see the Abbey from so far away!

A particular favourite of mine had to be the dog walking! It was a great way to get to stroll around campus, and stay active. Plus, dogs! They were so cute, and reminded a lot of my friends about their own pets - personally, I’m a cat person, but who can resist those puppy eyes?!?

The workshops at Esther Parkin were fantastic opportunities to take notice of smaller things, by doing calm activities with kind people. The friendship bracelets session had such a positive vibe - I loved being creative and meeting so many people! This was a really calming activity; after a hectic week it was so peaceful to have a quiet moment with friends.

Another amazing arty workshop was the painting swap, in collaboration with the Fine Arts Society! This was a brilliant chance to unleash the Bob Ross in me, connecting with my peers by sharing our paintings. It was so interesting to watch each painting unfurl into a final piece; I loved seeing them evolve as more minds came together.

The terrarium workshop had to be my fave though - as a proper plant lover, this was a fabulous chance to relax and do something I really enjoy! Mini terrariums are low-maintenance, and utterly adorable, since we got the chance to decorate them. It’s a perfect way to unwind, and one that will grow, just as I will, across the year! Likewise, the paint & pot session was an amazing chance to chill and do something really creative. My room now feels like a home, filled with colour! Also, a free plant? Yes, please!

Reflecting on Be Well Week, it was a great opportunity to relax after a busy start to the year, and great for my wellbeing! Moving to University, be it as a Fresher, or as a returner, can be quite stressful, but there were so many activities to help unwind! Taking notice of the small things around me, and joining in with friends really helped my mental health. Staying active by travelling around our wonderful city and learning so much about its history helped me to get comfortable as the new year begins!

While this Well Being Week may be over, Student Support is here all year, and there are plenty more weekly wellbeing activities to take part in throughout - PS. This includes the dog walks!
