Careers Workshop: Resilience in Action
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity, adapt to change, and keep going in the face of challenges. It’s not about avoiding stress or failure, but learning how to respond constructively. If you are finding your career journey hard, come to this session to learn how to harness, and develop, your ‘resilience muscle’.
Who it’s for
This session is for you if you are finding it hard to keep submitting applications in the face of rejections, or are wondering how to maintain a positive mindset when you are invited to an interview. Students at all stages of their career journey are welcome.
This session is also suitable for you if you have had challenging feedback or disappointing results in academic work and would like to discover strategies to handle this more constructively.
What we’ll cover
This interactive session will explore the concept of resilience, take a look at what you can and can’t control, and leave you with some actionable tips and strategies. Main topics include:
- What is resilience
- Who needs it – and what we can learn from them
- Covey’s Circles of Control and how they can help us
- Resilience in careers
- Developing your ‘resilience muscle’
- Support networks and resources available to you
Important to know
This is an interactive session – participation will be expected and is via a mix of mentimeter, anonymous input, and group discussion.
What you’ll get out of it
You’ll leave this session with actionable insights into resilience, including tips from people who have needed it more than most. Most importantly, you will feel better able to cope with any challenges or job rejections in the future.
Please note this event will be based on campus which you must book to attend and arrive at the venue before 1:15pm.
