Introducing: Get Started Guide for International Students

This blog is being published as part of the Get UK Career Ready week, have a look at the events we are running, tailored to international students (but open to all students), from Monday 30th January to Thursday 2nd February.


 

Are you an international student considering working in the UK after you graduate? Do you know we have collated some excellent resources for you in a Get started International students guide? Below are some of the key resources and tips you can find in the guide.

UK Job Market, Job Search and Recruitment Practices

This section covers everything you need to know about job search in the UK, tailored to international students. You can find tips here about success factors when it comes to finding job as an international students, how recruitment practices maybe differ from what you are used to and you can even find key tips on how to find out if an employer is able to sponsor you long – term, plus much more.

We have written articles, videos and an excellent recording of Bath international alumni sharing their tips and advice on how to find a job in the UK. If you haven’t explored these resources, definitely have a go now.

Visa and Immigration

As a Careers Service we are unable to give you immigration advice, but in this section, you get referred to places where you can, such as the Student Immigration Service on campus and UKCISA, a UK website specifically for international students with lots of excellent advice. In addition, we give you links and videos where you can explore the different visas available upon graduation, especially the graduate visa and skilled worker visa.

We also give you key resources on such important topics as to “how to answer the right to work question” and leaflets you can share with employers who are unaware of the great benefits of hiring an international student with key information on visas.

Lastly, we also have resources which would be useful in you would like to find work in your home country, with key job sites and tips.
