Our aim is for everyone to thrive at work and this starts during the joining and induction phase. Once a candidate is offered a position we offer a confidential process for new staff to disclose disability information via our pre-employment process. We seek to provide appropriate reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities before they start employment.
What support is available?
- HR Advisory team will provide support and guidance on work design and link with the new line manager to complete a agreement for adjustment plan and if required a personal emergency evacuation plan
- Assistive Technology team provide a range of specialist computer equipment for people with physical, sensory and cognitive support needs
- Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing team will support with workstation assessments and provide advice on work station furniture assessments. Along with advice on managing disabilities in the workplace.
You may be entitled to additional support through the Government’s Access to work scheme which provides a practical, individually-tailored advice and support to disabled people. The support you receive will depend on your needs. For example:
- BSL interpreters, lip speakers or note takers
- adaptations to your vehicle so you can get to work
- taxi fares to work or a support worker if you cannot use public transport
- a support worker or job coach to help you in your workplace
