National Disability Employment Awareness Month: aFLAME disability network for staff and PGR

Posted in: Disability

We are very proud of our staff networks which are dedicated spaces for colleagues sharing particular circumstances or characteristics to connect with others and share their experiences. In particular our aFLAME disability network for staff and PGR.

Aim of the network:

  • Providing a space for disabled staff and research students to discuss topics of interest
  • Helping build connections between disabled staff and research students across the University
  • Inviting speakers to talk on important issues

They have regular meetings and were instrumental in the organisation of the University’s first disability history month celebrations in 2022.

To support our neurodiversity community in 2022 a flexible, non-judgemental space was created for those who identify as neurodivergent and anyone who wishes to learn more about neurodivergence. The network aims to help members to share experiences, prompt peer support and grow together.

If you missed it see our blogs on recruitment, agreement for adjustments plan and disability leave.
