With the start of a new semester, we are delighted to welcome a fresh cohort of exchange and visiting students to the University of Bath. On Tuesday 23 September 2025, I joined my colleagues in the International Mobility team for my first induction experience—an inspiring day of meeting and supporting our new international students as they began their journey at Bath.

This semester, we are joined by 99 exchange students, who bring a wealth of cultures, perspectives, and experiences to our community.

During the induction, students completed their registration, received a welcome goody bag, and had the chance to connect with their exchange cohort. The session was vibrant and welcoming, providing an engaging introduction to university life at Bath and the many opportunities available to them.

After breaking the ice over coffee and cake, the International Mobility team opened the programme with a presentation on what to expect during their experience and how to make the most of it. This was followed by contributions from a range of student services teams, including, Ann Linfield, International Student Experience Project Coordinator, Daniel Holley, Training Officer for Student Support and Safeguarding, Annette Goddard, Skills Development Coordinator, Malcolm Skene, Academic Skills Course Leader, and Jeremy Sanders, Teaching Fellow, Skills Centre.

These sessions offered students valuable insights into academic life, support services, and skill development, leaving them feeling both informed and encouraged for the semester ahead. The atmosphere throughout was lively and welcoming, filled with energy, conversation, and plenty of excitement for the journey to come.

On behalf of the International Mobility team, I would like to wish all our exchange and visiting students a truly rewarding time at Bath, both academically and personally. Their presence enriches our university community in many ways, fostering cultural exchange, new friendships, and shared learning.

Here’s to an inspiring and successful semester ahead!
