Research with impact

Posted in: Research Culture

This Research Culture Week, I’m really pleased to be able to launch ‘Research with Impact’, an initiative to celebrate our research and shine a spotlight on its breadth and quality.

Over the next six months, we’ll be doing even more to promote our research, with a focus on the three thematic areas outlined in our University Strategy 2021-2026: Sustainability, Digital, and Health & Wellbeing.

We want to raise the profile of the research that takes place here at Bath, while at the same time celebrating our cross-disciplinary research and demonstrating our commitment to contributing to the public good.

I’m pleased to share with you dynamic new ‘long read’ digital stories that take a deep dive into some of our research, the first episode of our mini-podcast series hosted by science journalist Roland Pease, and our new videos. We’ve created content for a range of audiences, so I hope there is something that resonates with you.

There will be much more to come over the next few months, from across our University. I hope that you enjoy these stories of the impact that’s possible when talented and dedicated colleagues come together to tackle some of the globe’s most pressing issues, push the boundaries of knowledge and inspire the next generation of researchers to leave their mark.

The content will come out over a six-month period and will include a roughly equal focus on research from all three Faculties and the School to showcase the breadth of our research. It will include colleagues at different stages of their research careers and reflect the diversity of our research community.

The initiative will run until at least the end of the calendar year, when we’ll evaluate the project, look at lessons learned and plan next steps.

If you’d like more information or have any questions, please visit Research with Impact or email

Best wishes, Sarah
