Lunar New Year is the most important holiday of the year for the Chinese and some of the East and Southeast Asian countries. Often known in the West as Chinese New Year, the Lunar New Year occurs on the New Moon of the first lunar month each year. Each year is symbolised by one of the twelve zodiac animals. This year is the year of the Snake.
To celebrate the year of the Snake, several events were put on around the University and City. Dr Teslim Bukoye, Race Equality Charter Lead, attend a joint event hosted by University of Bath SU and Bath Spa University. Sophie from the Culture and Inclusion team also volunteered to assist at a culture and craft event hosted by the Skills Centre. The Bath CSSA hosted a Chinese New Year Gala, and the School of Management held a Chinese New Year Fair.
We had a fantastic time celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year 2025 with our incredible students! It was truly a special day to celebrate alongside our amazing Chinese students as part of the many exciting events planned at University of Bath. We take great pride in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment, ensuring our students feel at home. Dr Teslim Bukoye
