My Brendon Court Experience

Posted in: Accommodation, Undergraduate

An Overview of Brendon Court:

  • 4 floors of up to 24 people
  • One Kitchen per floor
  • Food Credit of £50 per week (Available to use at on campus food outlets and the Market)
  • Rooms include Mini Fridge, kettle and sink
  • Shared Bathroom facilities
  • Central Campus Location

So, what was Brendon Court really like?

Brendon Court is a sociable accommodation due to there being between 22-24 people on each floor! As you all share a kitchen you really get to know everyone on your floor as you bump into them throughout the year.

A downside to this, is that the kitchen at times can be quite busy but this is usually not a problem as you have your Eat and Drink credit.

The Eat and Drink credit is a lifesaver as it allowed me access to quick, nutritious, and hot food. As someone who loves sports and spends a lot of their time training, this really helped me out. The food outlets on campus are excellent, some favourites of mine were the Fountain burrito, Pitstop breakfast and the Limetree pizza.

The great benefit of the food and drink credits is that they also roll over each year until you graduate! I managed to save some of my credit in my 1st year through using some of the food outlets special offers and buying food from the market to cook myself.

Having a mini fridge in the room was also super helpful as I could store snacks and drinks in my room!

Brendon Court’s location was massively beneficial due to it being located directly behind the library and only a 2-minute walk from the centre of campus. This was great for rolling out of bed and making the 8AM lectures!

Brendon Court was also competitively priced with other accommodations (minus the food credits) such as Eastwood and Westwood. This really helped me as it stretched out my student loan!

Were there enough accommodation options available?

There were plenty of accommodations available and thus it all comes down to your personal preferences.

For instance, one factor is location. Do you want to be on campus or located in the city such as Green Park House? Would you like to be closer to the library or to the Sports Training Village? Asking yourself these questions really help you clarify what’s important you and which accommodations to apply for.

Eat and Drink credit is also offered with some accommodations such as Quads, Woodland Court shared rooms and Brendon Court. This gives you flexibility as you can choose either to eat at the campus food outlets or cook in the kitchen.

The option of an en-suite can be a big factor in deciding your accommodation. Quads, Woodland Court, Marlborough Court and Solsbury Court all offer rooms with en-suites while other accommodations offer shared-bathrooms. The biggest reason for the difference in prices is typically due to if the accommodation offers an ensuite or a shared bathroom. So please consider how much you value your own toilet and shower!

The reason Brendon Court was made 1st choice was due it’s competitive pricing, Eat and Drink credit and central location.

My memories at Brendon Court.

I met my housemates on the first day of moving in! Our corridor of 6 got on well and I’m still friends with all of them today. What’s different with Brendon Court is that it feels like the whole building socialises as I met lots of people from different floors!

Some of my best memories at Brendon Court was playing with friends on the accommodation football team, a flat outing to the golf course when it was covered in snow and Sunday Lunches as a flat at Limetree.
