Parking on campus during Departmental Open Days

Over the next few months we will be welcoming a large number of prospective students to attend Departmental Open Days.

On each Wednesday in February, March and April we are set to receive up to 1,000 visitors, creating substantial extra demand for parking on campus.

We have arranged a Park & Ride service for visitors to help manage this. However, we strongly advise staff to make other arrangements where possible such as using public transport or lift sharing.

If you are finding driving to campus a challenge, a reminder that the campus bus services have seen real improvements.

First’s new U1 service (previously the 18) runs buses at least every seven minutes during the day. These run between campus and Oldfield Park, with extra buses at peak times to and from the city centre. Every bus also offers free WiFi so you can email and browse en route, visit www.bathunibus.com for more.

Wessex has also increased the frequency of its main service - the U18 - with buses now at least every nine minutes between 7:25am and 7pm on term time weekdays. The U18 runs between Lower Oldfield Park and the University via the city centre, whilst the U10 and X18 provide additional journeys between Lower Oldfield Park and the University, bypassing the centre. Wessex also run the 20A and 20C services which provide links from the outer suburbs, e.g. Combe Down and Twerton, to and from campus. Visit the Wessex website to find out more.

Both services companies offer handy ticket apps to purchase and manage your tickets on your phone – as well as the option of buying individual, season or multi-journey tickets.
