Polden development update

Posted in: Polden, Polden accommodation, Uncategorized

Welcome to the twelfth monthly update with news to keep you informed on the new Polden Student Accommodation project.

December has been yet another very busy month, despite the inclement weather the concrete frame has continued to progress, whilst inside the building  plastering and decorating are picking up pace!

Due to the bad weather, the first tower crane dismantle has been delayed and will now remain in place until the end of January.  The build team continue to liaise with all relevant University departments on all deliveries expected on the campus to minimise disruption as much as possible.

Outside, the builders are installing more windows and façade boarding and have started installing brackets for the cladding system.  They are also completing drainage works in the ground, so they can clear the way for the architectural finishes to the façades. Inside the building, plastering progress is increasing and carpenters are now on site, preparing to install many thousands of meters of skirting boards and several hundred door frames.  The carpenters are also starting to prepare the floors, ready for furniture to be installed on top.

The forthcoming month will see the pace of construction works continue to increase.  You will see significant changes to the façade of the buildings while internally more and more bedrooms will be formed and progressed.

Your continued patience and understanding whilst construction works are ongoing is very much appreciated, and the construction team will continue to work closely with the University Estates, AHS, and Security teams to minimise disruption as much as possible.
