Posted in: Uncategorized

Externally we continue with façade works to the building whilst commencing with new elements to the north compound. Internally we progress with the fit out whilst beginning low level works in the pavilion.

Works continue to progress with the external facades as the team work on multiple elements. We are underway installing the bracketry and framing for the north soffits. Louvres have recently been installed following replacement units to the east elevation. On the south and west elevations above the pavilion the team continue with the framing and fascia panels for the cladding system. At roof level we have begun and are closing out the install of the louvres that form the roof plant enclosure. At level five roof, the cladding is being installed and the team are due to start the plant enclosure at this level. On the pavilion roof we have begun installing the frames for the skylights and have also completed the brise soleil infill to the pavilion façade.

Internally we are pushing on all fronts. At basement level mechanical and electrical installation at high level continues in all three zones. We are making good progress with the installation of ductwork and pipework. At level zero within the lecture theatres we have begun the taping and jointing of boards and started the first of the spray plaster. We are progressing with the high-level M&E install including the wiring of the main auditorium. In the pavilion area the team has since installed screed to the WC and catering pods enabling first fix M&E to progress in these zones. In the main open space, we have started the low-level containment and insulation ready for the underfloor heating to be installed.

Throughout the building on levels one to four the team are pushing the WC cores with high level containment and pipework in progress. At level three we are progressing with the first pass boarding of the faculty offices. In addition to this we are working through the first pass of boarding through stair cores one and three. Since the last issue of the newsletter we have completed the high-level works to the atrium ceiling and subsequently struck the large scaffold structure revealing the internal space of the atrium.

Externally we see the return of the groundworkers who have commenced with preparation of the bin store works outside of the site boundary. These works are being closely coordinated with the University. In addition to this we have excavated and since installed the water main into site and are currently testing prior to backfill.
