Launch of the 2018 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Public Engagement with Research

The 2018 Vice Chancellors Award for Public Engagement with Research is now open to postgraduate researchers and academic and research staff. This prestigious award recognises excellence in public engagement and is now in its 8th year running. Find out more and apply here.

The prize is split into two categories: one for postgraduate researchers and one for academic and research staff.

The award includes a prize of £500 for postgraduates and £750 for academic and research staff. The recipient of the academic and research staff award will also receive £1500 to fund the continuation of their engaged research.

Entrants are invited to present evidence of high quality engagement over a period of at least 24 months and show how their engagement has benefited them, their research and the public as well as how they have inspired other researchers and staff to get involved with public engagement.

Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel of public engagement experts. A shortlist of three nominees will then be invited to engage an audience with their research and engagement practice at Engage: Public Engagement in Practice on-campus on Wednesday 9 May, 12:30 – 4:00pm. The judging panel will announce the winner of the Prize at this event.
