Celebrate public engagement at the Engage Awards 2023

Posted in: Engage Awards, Rewarding Public Engagement

Join us from 11am on Wednesday 28 June for the presentation of the Vice-Chancellor's Engage Awards 2023 and celebrate outstanding public engagement projects with colleagues from across the University.

Vice-Chancellor's Engage Awards 2023 nominees

We at the Public Engagement Unit have been thrilled by the response to the call for nominations for this year's Engage Awards. Whittling down all the nominations to determine the winners in each category was certainly a hard task for the judging panel. However, after much deliberation, locked in an actual and virtual room for two hours, the panel made their decisions.

This year has seen a strong field of nominees across the five categories of the Engage Awards. Among others, the public engagement activities  nominated include:

  • a collaboration between engineers and Bristol-based puppet theatre company Green Ginger with RATLab
  • the Art Empowers project that engaged young people to capture their voice in developing strategies to reduce vulnerability to child exploitation
  • work with young people exploring the impacts of gambling on individual and community health and wellbeing in Ghana and Malawi
  • engagement with policymakers and professional bodies to inform policies around the wellbeing and retention of the emergency medicine workforce

Who won? Join us and the Vice-Chancellor at the Engage Awards presentation event on Wednesday 28 June from 11am to 1pm to find out.

Celebrating your public engagement achievements

We know that awards aren't always for everyone, so as part of the Vice-Chancellor's Engage Awards presentation event, we're hosting an informal showcase to share the broad range of public engagement activities taking place across the University.

Do you have a project or activity that you want to share with our colleagues? If so, we would like to feature it as part of the showcase at the Awards presentation event on Wednesday 28 June.

If you are interested or have an idea you want to discuss with us, drop us a line. Email us (public-engagement@bath.ac.uk) by Friday 16 June, and we can chat about involving you and your project or activity in the showcase.

Come along to the Engage Awards presentation event

The Vice-Chancellor's Engage Awards presentation event is returning to in-person for the first time since 2019, and we would love for you to join us at The Edge on Wednesday 28 June from 11am. Come along, grab some refreshments, check out the Images of Research 2023 exhibition and celebrate the fantastic public engagement achievements.

Let us know if you're coming by filling in the Engage Awards presentation event registration form.

Five Vice-Chancellor's Award winners on a podium holding their awards

Established in 2013, the Vice-Chancellor's Engage Awards aims to recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of colleagues who engage people beyond the University with their research. Four categories of the Engage Awards focus on public engagement with research - Informing, Listening, Working Together and Leadership. Following the category's success in 2021, the Local and Civic Engagement category is back for the 2023 Awards.
