We're really excited to have awarded our first Skills for Success Writing Toolkit Certificate.
The Skills for Success Writing Toolkit 2024-25 comprises 11 writing workshops, all designed to develop your confidence and enhance your writing skills. Each workshop counts towards Skills For Success Writing Toolkit certification. To gain the certificate, you need to attend all 11 writing toolkit workshops in Academic Year 2024-25. You can choose when you attend each workshop but you must have attended all 11, and completed the evaluation form for each, before the end of Semester 2. The certificate recognises your participation in our programmes, which you can use in your skills portfolio going forward.
Christy visited the Skills Centre on 9 December to receive her certificate from Dave Busby, Head of Academic Skills, and Malcolm Skene, Skills for Success Course Leader. Christy told us:
As an international student, I deeply appreciated the university's initiatives to provide workshops to enhance our academic writing skills. Completing these workshops in the first semester effectively prepared me for the assignments in the remainder of my master's program. Regardless of the delivery mode, the learning experience remained enriching. These concise sessions also provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with students from different disciplines, making it an enjoyable and beneficial experience. The bonus of receiving a certificate upon completion was a big encouragement!
Malcolm Skene is the Course Leader for the Skills for Success programme, and he added:
The Writing Toolkit certificate is a great opportunity for students to develop their writing skills and attain a meaningful recognition of the skills they have developed during their studies. Congratulations to Christy on being the first student to earn the certificate - we hope many more students will do the same in semester 2.
