If you could go back…what advice would you give to yourself at the start of your first year?

It is completely okay to take your time to adjust to university life. University is a massive jump, and so it will take a while to get into the swing of things. Don’t be too hard on yourself and go at your own pace!

What is your best student hack?

Don’t forget to use UniDays and always ask about student discounts when shopping. I forgot about this in my first year and wish I had used it more, so always be on the lookout.

Favourite meal to share with friends?

Even though it is a lot of work, I really enjoy making a typical English roast with friends. They are a lot of fun (although a bit stressful) to make, and after, you’ll have a delicious meal to share.

What café, restaurant or place in town is your favourite?

Velo Lounge on Moorland road is my go to place to meet up with friends, as it has cosy seating and great food. I also love the restaurant Yum Yum Thai and recently became obsessed with one of the dishes.

What is your hidden gem in Bath?

The Board Game Café in Bath called ‘Thirsty Meeples.’ It’s a perfect place to spend time with friends and you get to play a range of board games while eating food- what is not to like.

What do you do to unwind?

Crochet is a hobby I picked up during university and is my go-to way to relax after a busy day. I love putting on a movie and crocheting as a way to destress, and it’s amazing seeing my creations come to life and trying out new patterns.

How do you like to spend your time with friends?

I love spending time cooking a meal together, and then sitting down to chat over our finished dish.

What is your best money saving tip?

Instead of buying coffee constantly at university, I started making my own and bringing it in with me. Additionally, I love buying different syrups to add extra flavour to my coffees.

Who or what picks you up when you are down?

I spend time on my hobbies, as they are a great way to distract my mind and always make me feel better. Additionally, talking through your worries with people close to me is a great help; after all, a problem shared is a problem halved.

What’s your worst habit?

Inevitably, TikTok is my worst habit. It’s way too easy to get distracted and start doom scrolling, but I’m working on it…. hopefully….

What helps you focus or be productive?

I noticed that I was not very productive just staying in my room. However, going out to different places to study like cafes, management building, claverton rooms etc really boosted my productivity. A change of scenery and being away from my bedroom helped me focus better. Plus, I like having a bit of background noise while I work.

Best place to go for some fresh air?

I love taking a stroll along the river. It is very calming and relaxing, and to top it all off it provides a beautiful scenery while I walk.

What couldn’t you live without?

Definitely music! I always have it playing in my ears regardless of where I am going.

What is your favourite song and why?

I love all of Hozier’s music, but if I had to choose a favourite of his it would be ‘Nina Cried Power.’ The lyrics and the melody never fail to amaze me.

Best piece of advice you have been given?

Always remember to set aside time for yourself.
