The Black Students' Network (BSN) was established in 2021 and welcomes all students of Black* heritage. It aims to foster community and connection, strengthen sense of belonging and provide students with opportunities that support their wellbeing and professional development.
We are delighted to have appointed 6 students to work with Student Support to grow the BSN this year. Our BSN ambassadors will be running events, writing blogs, creating content and providing the University with vital student voice. We have loads of exciting stuff planned this year, from social events with free food to journaling workshops, and careers workshops and guest speaker events. Our ambassadors will also be running a monthly group (one for undergrads and one for postgrads), offering you a chance to connect in a low-pressure environment, check in with one another, and enjoy a relaxing activity with some hot drinks and snacks.
So, let’s meet our amazing new team!
Adebayo Agbayewa (he/him)

Hello. My name is Adebayo Agbayewa (He/Him). I study Biomedical science, and I'm from Tottenham. I enjoy playing football and happen to be very competitive, and I bring that competitive spirit with everything I do. I'm excited to be part of the BSN, as people will be able to relate and feel comfortable talking to me about any queries they may have.
Daelyn Odjidja (she/her)

Hi, I’m Daelyn, a second year Biomedical Sciences student. I love music (most genres, but especially pop and R&B), playing guitar, reading, and Pilates! I’m super excited to be a Black Student Network Ambassador this year, and I can’t wait to get to know you all at the upcoming events!
Lola Mefful (she/her)
Hi everyone! My name is Lola, and I’m a Politics and International Relations student. Outside of my course, I love being creative, especially through arts and crafts, and I really enjoy long walks as a way to reset, think, and take a break from university life.
I’m grateful to be involved in the Black Students’ Network because community and belonging are so important to me and having spaces like the BSN makes such a difference for wellbeing, connection, and feeling supported.
I’m looking forward to helping create a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel comfortable being themselves. Whether that is through events, conversations, or creative activities, I hope to contribute to a community where people feel seen, supported, and encouraged and help to build something positive together.
Louisa Mbochi

I’m a postgraduate student here at Bath. Outside of uni, I love exploring new cafés, reading, good conversations, and any excuse meet people + chat, which is probably why this initiative feels so close to my heart.
Postgraduate life can be exciting, but it can also feel intense and isolating, especially when you’re navigating a new environment or don’t always see yourself reflected around you. For me, this BSN role is about building a space where Black undergraduates + postgraduates can connect naturally, share experiences, and feel a sense of belonging without pressure or expectations. We’ll be hosting relaxed events both on campus or around the city, giving you the chance to meet others outside your department, unwind, and just be yourselves. I’m excited about the BSN because I believe community makes everything better + feel like you belong somewhere.
Oladoyin Idowu

Hi I’m Oladoyin, I’m a postgraduate student in Clinical Psychology and a mental health professional. I'm Nigerian and passionate about student wellbeing, inclusion, and building community within university spaces. I love mindfulness based activities and good food and believe some of the best community building happens around a shared meal. I'm really looking forward to meeting students and helping grow a PG network that feels supportive and easy to be part of.
As an international student, I understand the difficulties that can come with postgraduate life, from balancing academic and professional pressure to finding a sense of belonging in a new environment. I am passionate about helping create spaces where PG students can relax, connect, and feel supported, both socially and emotionally. I am especially keen on listening to what PG students actually want and building activities that feel inclusive and student-led.

*We recognise that everyone uses different language to describe and understand their identity. In consultation with the students who helped us review this Network, we’ve chosen to use the term Black students – which we hope feels inclusive and welcoming to you all.
