European Day of Languages

Tomorrow is the European Day of Languages and events is happening across Europe. It is a day of celebrating the diversity of languages Europe has and the benefits learning a language can do to your life, promoting intercultural understanding and enriching your career. So to celebrate why don’t you join us in one or more of these activities:

  • Explore the activities and events happening online and in different locations. Learn more about the origins of the European Day of Languages and even play a language game or two
  • Start learning a language! Do you know that the University of Bath offers several language courses, different levels to both staff and students? Or that the University offer lots of resources for independent learning? Make sure to visit the Language Learning Zone.
  • Interested in a career using languages? Read our excellent careers guide - Careers for Modern Linguists or read Prospects’ advice on using your degree in modern languages. Get inspired!
  • Read about some of those careers from a recent blog by the University of Warwick with regards to Careers with a Language Degree.
  • Lastly, have a think about your next travel abroad (or study abroad?), why don’t you throw in a language course whilst you are there? You never learn better than when you are in an environment to practise a language every day. You might make a new friend for life!
