No, I don't mean getting confused by the instructions on a JÄRVFJÄLLET and losing an Allen Key (and your patience).
Everyone has hobbies. From sewing to baking, we all do something for fun. When it comes to making applications, it's sometimes hard to realise that actually our hobbies are relevant in more ways than you expect.
Cole's Story
The intersection of architecture and furniture making is where my passion lies. It is a unique blend of designing spaces and creating the elements that fill them. My journey in this field has been one of exploration, creativity, and appreciation for craftsmanship.
I was always fascinated by buildings and how they shape our environment. Growing up in foster care I had to make my bubbles of comfort, I did this by design and art. This fascination led me to pursue a degree in architecture. During my studies, I realised that while designing the structure is crucial, the interior elements play an equally important role in defining a space. This sparked my interest in furniture making.
While working as an architecture student, I loved sketching furniture designs in my spare time. This hobby soon turned into a passion. I started woodworking and spending more time in the workshop, turning my sketches into tangible pieces in my spare time. Furniture making allows me to bring a personal touch to my designs.
Combining architecture and furniture making has allowed me to approach design holistically. I now consider furniture as an integral part of the aesthetic and functionality. This approach ensures a seamless integration between the architecture and the interior elements, creating cohesive and harmonious spaces.
My skills in architecture and furniture make me a versatile and valuable professional. I bring a comprehensive understanding of design, from the macro scale of buildings to the micro-scale of furniture. Additionally, my commitment to sustainability is a significant asset.
I aim to continue exploring the synergy between architecture and furniture making. I want to delve deeper into sustainable design practices and experiment with new materials and techniques. The beauty of this field is its endless possibilities, and I am excited about the future, whether it leads me to innovative architectural projects, ground-breaking furniture designs, or a harmonious blend of both.

Constructing a CV
Projects like building furniture demonstrates passion to your studies beyond the regular curriculum. Having work experience is great but demonstrating a real love for what you do can't be faked. When explaining a project on a CV it is important to show the skills that you developed that an employer is looking for and also make it apparent that you actually care about the project.
