How a Bath Insights internship has grown my confidence

Wow, wow, WOW!

Today was the last day of my Bath Insights Internship with the University of Bath Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. It has been such a fantastic journey over these 8 weeks, and I have achieved far more than I ever expected on a team and personal level. Here is a summary of what I have done:

  1. Written 5 case study blog on student employability experiences. I would like to thank Amy Childe and Alex Hams for their support brainstorming and proofreading, and all the students I interviewed for their time.
  2. Helped design and invent a new page for HSS Student Opportunities website page. This required intensive research, and I was really supported by Martin Gore during this project to decide what would work best for students, as well as why.
  3. Analysed and redeveloped a comms plan for numerous University initiatives such as Vertically Integrated Projects, the Employability Journey Map, and the Student Opportunities Newsletter. During this I got the opportunity to build on my creativity and critical thinking, alongside using a range of software such as Canva, Sway and Microsoft 365.

I would like to thank Annika Theilgaard, Katie Gilham-Terrell and Amy Childe for their support and feedback during these long term projects, as well as the other teams I liaised with to gather their opinions.

I could go on and on with other highlights and moments from my internship, but what has stuck out the most to me is how much I have grown in confidence whilst working in this new environment. I really have developed my communication, time management, resilience, creativity in this period.

I would also like to thank the placements team (Sabrina Earnshaw, Izzy Ford, Catherine Landon, Naomi Mintrum, Katie Smyth, Rosanna Floyd, Laura Massa, Alisa Cole and Jenny) for being so welcoming in the office during this time. I have really gained such amazing advice for the future from you all which I will certainly take forward, such as reflecting on my work and how to be prepared for the workplace.

And thank you to the Insights team - Annika, Amy, Katie G-T and Martin G - for having me during this time. Your support and feedback has been invaluable, and has really helped boost my self confidence in many areas!
