We met up with Daniel, a second-year Economics student, to find out more about his experience of finding and securing a placement, and the advice he has for other students.
If you're going on placement this year, the Skills Centre is running a series of pre-placement workshops exclusively for you. Taking part in these sessions will help you to:
- understand what employers expect when you move from being a student to a professional
- build confidence in how you present yourself and your work
- communicate more effectively with colleagues, managers, and stakeholders
- avoid common placement pitfalls and feel better prepared for real‑world working environments
- make a positive, professional impact from the start of your placement
