Prayer vigil for the people of Ukraine

Posted in: Uncategorised

The events of the last three weeks have moved at a great pace. As our archbishops said: “The horrific and unprovoked attack on Ukraine is an act of great evil. Placing our trust in Jesus Christ, the author of peace, we pray for an urgent ceasefire and a withdrawal of Russian forces.” #PrayForUkraine

In a thought for the day on 15th February for Radio Bristol, I asked why humankind couldn't learn from the events of history. Since then we have seen tragedy and terrible images are flooding our screens. We could even start asking the question, 'Imagine. How would we feel if this were the Royal Albert Hall in London or Wembley Football Stadium?'.

It is difficult to know what we can do, and sometimes the degree of worry can be difficult to manage. One thing we can do together, is to meet, sit in solidarity and pray quietly.

The University Chaplaincy is holding a weekly vigil for the people of Ukraine and the wider region every Tuesday between 5pm and 6pm. Everyone is welcome to join us.
